THE MIGRANTS
Since our earliest ancestors walked out of Africa millions of years ago, humans have always migrated. Today, we are witnessing the highest levels of movement on record. Millions—mostly women and children—are displaced by climate change, earthquakes, political oppression, and war. How we respond reflects our humanity.
Each painting in this series incorporates stencils, hand-carved woodblock stamps, and patterns—many collected during my travels—evoking the cultures represented.

LIVING VEILED
I’m intrigued by women wearing the veil—an ancient dress code shared across many cultures, including my own. A brief, wordless exchange at an airport—between me, in a sleeveless tank top, and a woman in a full niqab who silently scolded me for my bare arms—sparked this ongoing exploration. All I could see were her eyes—and they were smiling.
