THROUGH THE EMPYREAN

SKY LINE — 2022, oil on canvas with gold leaf, polyptych 20 x 80”

“Empyrean” comes from Ancient Greek, by way of Latin, and refers to the highest heaven—once thought to hold the pure element of fire or light. In medieval cosmology, it became the outermost realm, where Beatrice leads Dante in The Divine Comedy. Today, it evokes the far reaches of space, revealed through images from deep space telescopes.

Floating shapes interrupt open skies—marking what I see and hinting at what lies beyond. This series is about perspective, presence, and the quiet power of art in uncertain times.
